The scope of this document is to define the essential skills that constitute the High Performance Club entry-level standard and Higher Awards. For each of those skills we then identify the core competencies that would be expected to be attained, and by which a prospective candidate can be assessed. This is supported by Demonstration sections, designed to put the particular skill into context and to help illustrate how the required standard can be demonstrated in practical terms.

Although further explanation is provided in certain sections to assist understanding, this is not intended to be an instruction manual. The fundamental reference, and essential reading for all, is the Police Driving Manual, Roadcraft. Additional reading, in the form of contributions on specific topics from experienced Club members, will be found on the Club website.
